"I'm just 1 stomach flu away from my goal weight" & Junk Free June

Ok, so I'm not *actually* one stomach flu away from my goal weight, but I had a tummy bug this week so the title seemed fitting! It was after my final weigh in for May though, so I just missed out on my May goal (by 300gms), with a loss of 1.7kg for the month. Definitely my slowest month, but I've been a bit rubbish on the willpower front.

So because of that tummy bug (and subsequent recovery) I am taking advantage of my shrunken appetite, and hoping for a decent loss this week. By the time I weigh in I will have been eating 'normally' for 5 days, and it was a short (24 hour) bug, so it shouldn't have too much of an impact on my actual weight.

And on the "lack of willpower" front, I have signed up for Junk Free June!
The thing is, the organisers don't set what you can and can't eat - I guess because Junk Food is different for everybody - so it's up to you to set your own restrictions. I have set the below as my No Go List:
Chippies
Chocolate
Ice Cream
Lollies
McDonald's
KFC
Burger King
Takeaway Fish & Chips
Takeaway Pizza

I figure home-made pizza/fish & chips is ok (all cooked in a very healthy way, no oil/fat), and Pita Pit & Subway are allowed - as long as I take the healthiest option. I don't eat takeaways a lot, but I need a couple of options to make sure I don't end up with a major case of the guilts over a Pita when push comes to shove.

So you will have to bear with me, as I will be posting daily food blogs to have some accountability for my Junk Free month :)

So that, combined with exercise, I'm going to go hard and aim for a really good loss for June. There are 5 weigh ins, and I'd aiming to lose at least 2.9kg.

12 Week Challenge Success!!

Another good loss of 700gms this week, and that took me just over my 12 week challenge goal! So I lost 8.2kg, and more importantly - 45cms!! Yep!! 16 of those were off my tummy! I had to measure 3 times to make sure it was correct....


Next challenge starts today, and I am feeling motivated and ready to go. I have got my new exercise program in from of me, and this time it includes strength training, which is exciting, because I really need to get my muscle tone back. Hubby has told me he will workout with me on my strength days, so that's good - I'm not a huge fan of working out alone!


I'm amazed at how excited I am about this next challenge. I think because my pre-pregnancy weight is a realistic goal this time, and seeing the before and after photos from the last 12 weeks are quite incredible - hopefully you can see them here

I got to 10% weight loss by changing my breakfast!

Current Weight: 94.7
Started my journey 6/01/15 - 11.3kg lost so far

So a good loss of 900gms this week. I really didn't change much, other than having porridge for breakfast, instead of a measly yoghurt. Quite surprised at the loss, but I'll take it! Oh, and I got my 10% lost this year!!!

After a good chat with hubby I decided to jump straight in to the next 12 week challenge. It is really my only motivation at the moment, and my willpower is not at a level that would allow me to succeed on my own!

What I have realised though, is that if I aim to lose another 8kg on the next challenge, I will be at my pre-pregnancy weight!!! I'm not sure what my final goal weight is yet, but the thought of being back to 86 is exciting! I think eventually I'd be happy at about 80kg, but I'll see how I feel at the end of this next challenge.

What would you do?

Started my journey 6/01/15 - 10.4kg lost so far

Had a STS this week. I was feeling quite gutted about it as I thought I had eaten well, and exercised heaps.

And then my trainer went through my food diary. This is what she found:
Monday - Sausage roll, WW chips, Chocolate, 3 slices of bread, hokey pokey cream with caramel sauce - 675cal over limit
Tuesday - Caramel walnut brownie, chocolate, bread, ok cal wise
Wednesday - hot chocolate, pizza 272cal over limit
Thursday - chocolate! heaps of it and candyfloss, ok cal wise but that beef burger was that accurate we don't have waitrose in NZ
Friday - chocolate, raspberry slice, sally bun, melting moment, sausage roll
Saturday - chocolate, fish and chips

So yeah, I really didn't eat well at all! Funny how that selective memory comes in to play...

So after that wake up call on Monday night, I was much better yesterday - Yoghurt & fruit, nuts, little bit of chocolate (oops), chicken salad, more fruit. Then hubby wanted fish & chips for dinner!! Had a small piece of crumbed fish, and some chips. I weighed them for the first time ever, and I have been waaaaay underestimating the amount of chips I usually eat!

Still stayed under my allowance though, so I guess that's good (and that's without accounting for exercise). Today's food during the day will be much the same, and pork steak & veg for dinner (what we were supposed to have last night!)

Only 2 weeks left on my challenge, so need to pull finger if I'm going to lose 1.4 kg by the end - was hoping to lose more, but realistically that's not going to happen now.

Trying to decide if I should jump straight in to another challenge, or wait a month and start the mid June one. I've got 4 days to decide.... What would you do?
